 RAILWAY200 POETRY PROJECT

Open to all ages, all abilities and internationally.

We are delighted to be collaborating with The Watercress Line heritage railway on their poetry and prose project.

They are inviting poets and wordsmiths to use the timeline themes on the Railway200 official website as inspiration to write a poem (or prose if preferred) that celebrates the 200th anniversary of train travel in the UK.

From dining carts to celebrity passengers, trains in films, the environment, 'bed-seats' and 'shunter's poles' - there's lots of imagery to draw from to create your poems. The Watercress Line will be including every piece submitted in a large scale project, with selected submissions featuring in a printed anthology.

Submissions open: Sunday 1st September 2024
Submissions close: Tuesday 25th February 2025

Watercress Line Railway200 Poetry Project is a partnership between Winchester Poetry Festival and The Watercress Line
